shenandoah valley couples photo session

When Kirsten and I were planning her fall couples session, she told me her family has some land on the Shenandoah River and that she'd like to shoot there. She sent me some photos of the property and I was instantly sold! I love the whole vibe – the dried corn, the cow fields and farm gates, the rocky riverbed and of course the mountains in the background. It was the quintessential Shenandoah Valley photoshoot location.
Kirsten's personality is as big as a country mile, and it brought a ton of character to their photos. I started our session by having them hold hands and walk around, talk and laugh, and just basically ignore me and my camera. I immediately knew this session's photos were going to be some of my all-time faves! I try to incorporate lots of movement in my sessions, to encourage genuine interactions and avoid stiff poses. These two definitely understood the assignment!
